Location

  • The Town of Sturgis is located at the junction of the north-south CN mainline from Winnipeg to Churchill and the CN branch line from Swan River in the east.
  • Primary Highways No. 9 and No. 49 serve the community, giving excellent access to the north, south, east and west.

Economic Activity

  • The major industry in the area is agriculture and logging. The forests are rich in wildlife and the lakes are full of fish. Excellent for hunting, fishing and relaxing.
  • Sturgis Sports & Rodeo Committee hosts "Saskatchewan's Largest One Day Sports & Rodeo" every year on July 1st.

Financial Benefits

  • Small Business Loans are offered through the Economic Development Committee/Co-operative to new and existing businesses, up to a maximum of $10,000.00.
  • For new businesses starting up in town, no municipal property taxes are payable for the first year. No business taxes charged in town.
  • Town-owned serviced residential lots are for sale at $1.00 each.  Construction has to be started within one year.
