Any taxpayer can still prepay amounts owing on the local improvement levy (Pavement).  Consider paying the amount in full and save on future interest charges.

The town is still offering a $30 rebate for any home owner in Sturgis who purchases a low flush toilet, up to two toilets. Proof of purchase must be submitted to the office.

HOUSE NUMBERS – Please ensure your house number is clearly displayed for emergencies.

LANDFILL HOURS – Oct. 1st – Mar. 31st – Winter Hours will be Tues., Fri. & Sat.: 9– 5pm.

 

STURGIS & DISTRICT COMMUNITY HALL FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Sturgis & District Community Hall Fund Raising Committee to reach & exceed it's $100,000 goal. This includes donations from individuals and the Sturgis Community Bingo committee. A detailed account will be available after the committee has its meeting on January 18, 2009.

STURGIS ARENA – A free skate and  free hot chocolate was held on Wed. Dec. 17, thanks to all who came out, it was a great turn out & we hope to do one again in January.  THANK YOU to the Hall Committee for their donation of the hot chocolate. Rink Fees– Family $100, adults - $65, students $50, preschool – free and $3 per day.  Rink fees are to be in by Feb. 1/09.  

Carnival -Feb. 28/09.   Watch for more details. Pull tickets will be sold by all members.

Jan. 11 – combined Worship at Trinity (Preeceville) – 10:30am with Annual M&S Funspiel Jan. 10 & 11 at Preeceville, call Val @ 548-2988 to register your team. Sunday Jan. 18 regular Sunday services resume – Grace (Sturgis) 9:30am, Trinity (Preeceville): 11am.

 

STURGIS FIGURE SKATING CLUB –We still have cookbooks available for $12 each. They make great gifts for birthdays, grad, and showers or just for you! Contact any skater, Town Office-548-2108, and most businesses in town to get your book.  All proceeds go to our club and we THANK YOU all for your support! Carnival – Feb. 28/09.

STURGIS COMMUNITY BINGO- Every Tuesday, doors open @ 7pm, if you can volunteer to work or bring goodies please contact Lillian 548-2087.  Thank you! All proceeds to the hall.

 

READ CLUB - Crib Tournament – Sat. Jan.10 @ 10am. Noon Meal – Everyone Welcome!

 

STURGIS KINETTES – Nursery School resumes Wed. Jan.7th for 3 & 4 year olds. Any new participants for this next session may call Michelle @ 548-4757 for more info.

 

STURGIS WILDLIFE if you are interested in starting a wildlife youth club - ages 6 & up, please contact Bert- 548-2160 for more info.

 

STURGIS BRANCH LIBRARY – phone 548-2824, www.parkland.lib.sk.ca, library hours: Tuesdays – 2pm to 6pm, Wednesdays – 12pm to 6pm, Thursdays – 11am to 5pm. November Dessert of the Month November winner: Devon Semeschuk, December winner: Cole Palaniuk. Thank you for your support in past draws. Gently read books for sale @ 1 book/$.25, 3/$.50, 8/$1.00. Library will re-open Tues. Jan. 6 with regular open hours.

 

CARE HOME REPORT-  Come and Go Tea in honor of Nellie Christopherson’s 94th Birthday on Jan. 10th from 2-4pm – Everyone Welcome!  Season’s Greetings from Fayne, Staff & Residents.
